One of Rannveig‘s projects, Hreinsum Ísland (Keep Iceland Clean), aims to highlight and combat plastic pollution in the oceans and has been nominated for the Nordic Council Environment Prize 2018. Her talk takes a hard look at plastic consumption and consumer culture. She addresses what solutions we can strive for going forward, both in Iceland and abroad. Rannveig has a PhD in mammal ecology and works as a project manager at the environmental NGO Landvernd (Icelandic Environment Association). Her passion in life is nature conservation and her work focuses on environmental education and awareness on topics like ecological restoration, climate change, biodiversity, food waste and plastics. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
